Turkish Language

Since we live in a society, we can convey our feelings, thoughts and designs accurately and effectively only if we speak or use mother tongues deliberately.

Words prevail the daily lives of people. From the most basic need to the most complex feelings and thoughts, we express everything that comes to our minds through words.
Turkish lessons aim to teach the students the rules of Turkish, give them the ability to naturally speak and write in Turkish accurately and effectively; and to make them fond of the Turkish language.

Through the Turkish lessons, students adopt a reading habit, their vocabulary is enhanced and they improve their comprehension and narration skills.

To make reading a fun habit for them, we hold reading hours with distinguished books from children's literature.

Mathematics

As a way of thinking and a universal language, mathematics is an indispensable field for science, technology, each individual and our society in today's ever-changing world.

In the globalizing world, nations use science to have the upper hand. The most important one of these sciences is mathematics.

As Atacan Educational Institutions, one of our main principles is to teach mathematics to our students in the best way. Our aim is to raise individuals who can solve problems of our rapidly growing world with their talents and skills.

Teaching primary school students basic mathematics will help them solve the problems they will face in the future.

Social Studies

In our Social Studies classes, we wholeheartedly follow Atatürk's Principles and Reforms and make use of the opportunities computer technologies present to us as well as possible by using visual and auditory teaching materials to help students perceive easily and to ensure what they learn stays in their minds permanently.

In History classes, our goal is to destroy History's notoriety of being the “feared memorizing course", make the subjects fun for students; get the students to participate in the learning process and help them keep what they learn in their mind permanently with methods such as brainstorming, contests and telling stories. Along with these, we also intend to raise inquisitive, enterprising students who know their past, who are proud of their ancestors, fond of their country, aware of events around the world, able to interpret history and correlate between then and now.

In Geography classes, we aim to create awareness, introduce how phenomena occur and how they affect people, the resources in our country and how they are utilized, help them see the connections between social factors and geopolitics, and teach them to protect and employ national resources.

Our objective is to help our students become aware of their civic duties, responsibilities and rights, that they should respect everyone's rights; and bring them into the society as individuals who are useful for their country. During our in-class activities, our students see that people need each other and that it is important to participate in group activities, help their friends and have a respectful and polite approach to each other's ideas. Thus, they become a part of the society as self-confident, virtuous individuals who have the qualities to adapt to the globalizing world, express their ideas and present their works perfectly.

With general assessment and remedial studies, we give feedback to students in line with the data from the Assessment Department.

Sciences

In our time where everything changes in the blink of an eye, science and technology is quite important. Everything occurs in nature is a matter of science, which is why it is a significant part of life itself. Sciences deal with both with the organic and inorganic nature. It consists of facts, concepts, generalizations, principles, theories and laws of nature.

Science and Technology classes teach students how to apply the scientific concepts and skills, keeping up with innovations.
Our goal is to help students understand the correlation between what they learn in the class and real life by presenting instances from daily life.

Science and Technology course starts with the “learning through experience" principle. Therefore, the three science labs in our school are regularly used for science classes and for scientific research.

The projects of our students then take place in our science fair and other educational projects.

Our goal in holding these events is to:

– Give our students the opportunity to use the scientific methods they learn about,
– Improve their observing and interpreting skills,
– Help them have a scientific approach to problems,
– Collect scientific data, analyze the results and demonstrate the data in tables and graphics,
– Raise individuals who are capable of sharing these results with others.

Foreign Languages

As Atacan Private Educational Institutions who have always aimed to raise confident, modern and well-qualified young people who support creative thinking, one of our primary goals is to teach our students a foreign language along with teaching them our mother tongue and to improve some skills as they learn this foreign language.

As the Foreign Languages department, whose principle is learning for a lifetime and who has a student-centric education approach, our aim is to teach our students how to use English accurately and fluently by helping them improve their reading, listening, speaking and writing skills more effectively; make them feel the privilege of speaking a foreign language, support their social and communicational skills in case they study abroad; to introduce the world, different viewpoints and different cultures, and help them use foreign languages in every part of their lives.

In our institution, our students see foreign languages not as lessons, but as a lifestyle and continue their language education in an environment created to help them develop their skills more actively and in the best possible way. This way, when our students successfully graduate and start their lives as adults, their interest in and hobbies about foreign languages will have remained and they will take steps to learn other foreign languages as well.

Cambridge ESOL Exams are the most well-known and valid one of the foreign language exams. We have our students take the Cambridge Exams, which are the most well-known and valid exams, every year to make their performance throughout the years and the level they reached official with an exam that has international validity. It is optional for our students to take these exams (Starters, Movers, Flyers, KET, PET, FCE, etc.) that asses their four basic skills.

Visual Arts

“When a nation doesn't paint, when a nation doesn't sculpture, when a nation doesn't do what the technique requires; we shall admit, that nation has no means of improvement.”

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

Our Mission

In the first years of education, children use the pictures they draw as a tool to express themselves. Therefore, art classes are needed both to help students relax and to enhance their imagination with artistic activities.

In these classes, our aim is to reveal our students' hidden talents, awaken original ideas in their minds, help them use their imagination to design, teach them about artistic terms and concepts as well artists from Turkey and from around the world and make them aware of the artistic events around them (such as art exhibitions and biennials).

Participation in Physical Education, Sports, Games and Other Physical Activities

For children, the main purpose of Physical Education is to reinforce and encourage natural movements such as running, climbing, jumping and playing.

Through P.E. classes, students not only develop their bodies and keep in shape, but also learn how to cooperate with others and recognize their strengths and weaknesses.

We aim to;

– Build basic motor skills,
– Develop bone and muscle structure and teach good posture in a high-spirited environment,
– Build basic motor skills,
– Improve positive and modern personality traits exhibited in a student's social life,
– Ensure their success in sports, shows and exercises by teaching them the psychomotor skills,
– Teach them the first aid methods and the importance of good nutrition, hygiene and staying away from harmful habits to be a healthy person,
– Encourage students to take part in performance sports in line with their interests and skills.

Academic Projects

To help students adopt a habit of being regularly active, to improve the physical capabilities necessary for their participation in physical activities in the curriculum of P.E. and sports classes, and create self-awareness in order for students to adopt active and healthy life styles, the “Health-Related Physical Fitness Scorecard Program" is conducted. Our students' heights, weights and flexibility are measured.

School Teams

– Mini Volleyball
– Mini Basketball

Ballet – Dance

Main purpose of our ballet and dance classes is to establish the students' bodies coordination, deliver sense of rhythm to the body and teach mindfulness. Our students start classes with stretching exercises and gain flexibility, go on to medium-difficulty exercises and gain balance, and with port de bras (arm) exercises, they give aesthetically pleasing performances.

The different combinations of moves structured for each class help our students strengthen their memory and coordinate their bodies accurately. They learn not only about the dances from different cultures, but also to be a part of a whole, to help each other, be disciplined and to succeed. They showcase their club and extracurricular work throughout the year at ceremonies and shows that are held at the end of the school year.

Folk Dances

Folk dances, which are especially for the first-grade students of primary education as one of the club activities, aim to improve students' physical and mental capabilities. Along with folk dance, students learn dances to perform on a stage within more modernized dance figure studies. Students who get trained in folk dance participate in ceremonies, activities and various festivals.

Chess

It is an activity that is scientific because it requires knowledge, artistic because it requires creativity, sportive because the struggle to use knowledge and skills becomes energy.

Our chess lessons are aimed to build our students' self-confidence and increase their intelligence.

In chess, every next move means thousands of new choices and possibilities. A child who plays chess has to have eyes on every part of the chess board, calculate every outcome of every move he or she can make and has to determine and make the most logical move.

A chess player reflects on the foresights and strategies they have about the positions of the pieces and hence see the outcomes of moves immediately. Therefore, one should be quick to conclude what is right and what is wrong. Chess lessons contribute especially to the development of abstract intelligence by improving perception, memory, attention and reasoning.

Drama

Playing Children
It's an undeniable fact that a happy childhood leads to a strong adulthood.

Therefore, we could say that children whose personalities are developed through play will turn out to be happy adults. Drama contributes to children's mental development process by presenting them with various ways of living through their own acts. Children put themselves in someone else's shoes and, thanks to their imagination, do things they cannot do in real life or relive the memories from times they long for through dramatic acting. During these activities, children go through the problems they go through in their daily lives, but in different ways. Thus, not only their problem-solving skills are improved, but also, they start to look at things from a different angle. As children play specific roles as some kind of game during drama activities, the verbal and nonverbal behaviors of children while acting enrich their communicational and language skills. They get the opportunity to learn about new concepts.
